Sharon "Poppy" King Slinde, 59, of Bounds Circle, Westover, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born July 29, 1941, in Waynesburg, Pa., daughter of the late Paul I. and Jeanne Hickman King. She retired from Monongalia County Schools as a bus driver. She was a member of the Point Pleasant American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose of Waynesburg. She is survived by her husband, Kerry Slinde; her stepfather, Paul M. King; two sons, Scott Gooden, of Waynesburg, and Paul Gooden, of Morgantown; two daughters, Shari Gooden, of Morgantown, and Lee Ann Lippincott, of Jefferson, Pa.; a brother, Richard E. "Rick" King, of Hurricane; a sister, Karen King Johnson, of Mount Morris, Pa.; four stepchildren, Keri Williams, of New Bern, N.C., Lisa Reymond, of Leon, Merton Scott Slinde, of Point Pleasant, and Tacia Smith, of Morgantown; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Friends may call at Dering's Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, with Pastor Fred Tomlinson officiating. Cremation services will follow.
