Phyllis Leiter Mankowitz, formerly of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the age of 81 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Marvin Mankowitz to whom she was married for 47 years. Phyllis was born in Newton, NJ, the daughter of the late Harry and Ida Leiter. She earned her BA from Syracuse University, her MA from Rutgers University and her 6th Year from Fairfield University. For many years, Phyllis Mankowitz was a school guidance counselor at Madison Middle School in Trumbull. She is survived by her loving daughter Susan Fink, her son Robert, son-in-law Douglas, daughter-in-law Diona and by her grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan Fink whom she adored and who adored her. Phyllis Mankowitz was a former president of the NCJW, a participant in the AAUW and a member of Rodeph Sholom of Bridgeport, CT. She was a voracious reader and avid walker who was passionate about politics, travel, mentoring, volunteering and bird watching, who will always be remembered as being a good friend.
