STACKHOUSE EUGENE GLENN Humanitarian, passed away peacefully at 81 in his Germantown home, Dec. 12, 2020. He attended Sheridan and Stetson in Kensington and then Central and Frankford High Schools and Temple U. (B.A., '65). In the Army during the Cold War ('58-'61), Eugene protected our freedom (and lunched with Elvis) in Wildflecken, W. Germany. He worked at the Wistar Institute in virology. Later as editor at Biological Abstracts ('69-'02), he met Dianne Tzouras, his wife of 50 years.

Gene's extensive interests ranged from plants, animals, cooking, bicycling, hiking, photography, and cabinetmaking to historical research. He published Germantown in the Civil War and family genealogies. Boards, included Germantown Historical Society (President and Hall of Fame), G.A.R. Museum, Laurel Hill and Hood Cemeteries, and Mt. Airy Bantams. Dianne noted his remarkable disposition, unique humor, and unwavering enthusiasm for life.

Eugene was predeceased by brother Warren Stackhouse, brother-in-law Tom and, nephew Luke Burgess. He is survived by Dianne, sister Alice Burgess, niece Erica (Dave) Lozano, grandniece Gabriela Lozano, sister-in-law Angel (Scott) Linzell and children of the heart (Mills family) as well as cousins and friends.

Burial was in W. Laurel Hill Cemetery, green section.
