Funeral Services For Robert Symonds Are Held Tuesday

Robert Symonds, 85, passed away in the Seven Oaks Rest Home after a long illness Sunday morning.

Funeral services were held in Cumerford-Endaley Memorial in Peoria Tuesday afternoon in Peoria Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Frank Cox of the Knoxville Presbyterian church in charge. Interment was in the Knoxville cemetery (Prospect Cemetery).

Mr. Symonds was born at Branton, Farm, Devonshire, England, April 16, 1871, the son of William and Helen Babcock Symonds. He attended Branton Boys' School and Chumleigh college until he came to Illinois at the age of 16 years.

Mr. Symonds a retired farmer, farming in the Knoxville community for many years. He retired in 1946, for the past few years they have resided in the Princeville community.

He was united in marriage to Maude I. Ford in Peoria February 6, 1895. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and taught a Sunday school class for many years. He also served as an elder of the church for many years.

Surviving are his wife; two sons Glen Williams of Victoria and Robert Ford of Knoxville; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, John K. Symonds of Monica; two sisters in Branton, England; and many nieces and nephews.

Three sons and one daughter preceded him in death.
