She attended grade school in the Garner and Wanblee public schools. Faye attended high school at both Interior and Kadoka, and graduated from Kadoka High School in May 1947. While attending high school, Faye worked and stayed at the Pearl Hotel in Kadoka.
After graduation, she attended summer school at Black Hill’s State College and then began teaching at Long Valley, South Dakota. She taught two years there and then returned to Black Hills State College and received a two-year diploma. Later in life, Faye returned to college and received a degree in elementary education from Springfield State College. She also attended the InterAmerican University in Mexico before returning to college and earning a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Black Hills State College in 1980. Faye’s teaching career spanned 30 years, all in South Dakota except for one year in Nebraska. During her career she taught every grade, from Kindergarten to college level courses.
Survivors include her son, Troy (Beth) Eisenbraun of Olathe, Kansas; five grandchildren: Travis Lusk, Danielle Vigil, Brianne Murray, Brandon Murray, and Riley Eisenbraun; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Faye was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwen (Apland) Murray; her parents; seven brothers: Lynden, Cecil, Rex, Harold, Jerry, Loras “Tuffy”, and Wayne; and three sisters, Ercell Albin, Valene Perault, and Cloreta Eisenbraun.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, January 29, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Kadoka.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, at the Kadoka City Auditorium with Father Tyler Dennis officiating.
Live streaming will be provided, and the funeral service can be watched from this webpage at the start of the service. The family also requests that everybody wear masks and observe social distancing protocols.
Interment will follow immediately after at Wanblee Community Cemetery in Wanblee.
