He was a member of St. Michael's Greek Catholic Church, a member of Slovac Sokol, and an honorary member of the Michael Kosar American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora, which was named for his son, who was killed in World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Fannie; six sons, Nick, at home, Stanley, John, Paul, Joseph Jr., all of Butler, and Steve of Lyndora; four daughters, Mrs. Clair (Mary) Turk of East Butler, Mrs. Ann Smuch of Prospect, Mrs. Tony (Nelle) Pollifrone of Homeacre, and Mrs. Milton (Rose) Franchuk of Highfield; and 19 grandchildren.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetary, Butler.
