He was born in Lyndora on Sept 16, 1914, a son of Joseph and Fannie Maletz Kosar.
He was a former member of St Michael Ukrainian Catholic
Church in Lyndora.
He retired in 1977 as a fitter from Pullman Standard after 35 years.
Mr. Kosar was a veteran of World War II, having served as a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a charter member of the American Legion, Michael Kosar post 778, in Lyndora; the post is named in honor of his brother. He was also a member of the Lyndora Volunteer
Fire Department.
Surviving are his companion, Mary Gavula, of Butler; four brothers, John, Joseph, Steve, and Paul, all of Butler; three sisters, Mrs. Ann Smuch, of Lyndora, Mrs Mary Turk, and Mrs. Nelle Pollifrone of Butler; a number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
Private funeral services were held at Geibel Funeral Home.
