EDITH NEWLAND SMITH VERNON
Nov. 23 -- The people of this community were grieved to learn of the death of Edith Newland Smith at her home near Hecla, which occurred Thursday. Mrs. Smith was not quite 20 years old and her death seems exceedingly sad. Only a little over a year ago she was untied in marriage to Operator H. W. Smith of Vernon Grade, and their lives seemed full of hope and promise. She was an exceptionally beautiful girl and a general favorite. She is survived by her husband and an infant child, her parents. Mr. And Mrs. Frank Newland, and a brother, Charles Newland, of Hecla.
