Maxine F. Fitzgerald

Manitowoc - Maxine F. Fitzgerald, age 89, a Manitowoc resident, passed away early Friday morning, February 5, 2021 at Laurel Grove Assisted Living, Manitowoc, with her family by her side.

Maxine was born on June 21, 1931 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Max and Agnes (Einbirger) Pankratz. She was a graduate of Valders High School. On August 12, 1956 she married Norbert F. Fitzgerald at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1981. Maxine was a stay at home Mom who raised one daughter, Kay, and a son, Patrick. Later in life she worked at Lube Devices until she retired at age 60.

She was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed her bowling, golf leagues and volleyball. Her favorite teams were the Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Brewers. Maxine was most proud of her volunteer work at St. Vincent De Paul where she assisted loyally for many years. She loved planting, but her most treasured time was spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter: Kay Fitzgerald, Kaukauna; one son and daughter-in-law: Patrick (Dorothy) Fitzgerald, Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Trista (Fabian) Carrillo, Manitowoc, Miranda Stetson, Atlanta, GA, Austin (Beth) Stetson, Manitowoc; numerous great grandchildren; one sister: Mary Franke; one brother: John (Kathleen) Pankratz, all of Milwaukee; one brother-in-law: Les Borman; and one sister-in-law: Rita Fitzgerald. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters: Kathleen (Ray) Pollack, Phyllis Borman; two brothers-in-law: Arthur Franke and James Young; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: John (Jenny) Fitzgerald, Alice (Leo) Kunz, Warren Fitzgerald, Rosie (Ralph) Herzog, Kathleen (Rene) Schwalbe.

Private family services will be held and Maxine will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Maxine's name to St. Vincent De Paul, Manitowoc.
