He was born December 11, 1832, and was married to Evaline Duff November, 27, 1860. They lived in Illinois until 1872, when the came to Kansas just 1 1/2 miles northwest of Dundee, Kansas. Eight children were born, two have died, six surviving and they are; Mrs. E. W. Smith, Mrs. S. E. Gilbert, Albert Lile, W. H. Lile, Harry Lile all of Pawnee Rock and Mrs. George Gano of Hutchinson, all survive along with the wife.
