Patricia “Pat” Jane Power, 68, of Wenham, died March 4, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a short yet courageous battle with cancer. Her early passing was unexpected.

Born in 1946, she was the first daughter of Philip J. DeConinck and the late Jane Gorczyca DeConinck of Beverly. She was a lifelong learner with a passion for international travel. She attended Beverly High School, class of 1964 and began her pursuit of higher education. She received her B.A. Cum Laude from Regis College, her M.A. from the University of New Hampshire, and her Masters of Education, School Administration at Salem State College with Highest Honors.
Her academic performance and passion of foreign languages earned a DAAD and Fulbright scholarship to study in Germany. She started her career in 1968 as a Foreign Language Teacher and was employed by the Peabody Public Schools for 34 years concluding as Unit Director at the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. She finished her career as Principal of Dracut High School before retiring. Her colleagues described her as highly organized, practical, hardworking, and a conscientious educator.

She was a lifelong member of the Jubilee Yacht Club in Beverly where she met her husband Bernard Power. They were married at St. Mary’s Church in Beverly, and sailed together from Beverly to Cape Cod on their honeymoon. Her personal time was filled with travel plans and special projects. Her passport was always current and her social calendar was always full. She spent her summers vacationing on Prince Edward Island Canada, her winter weekends skiing in North Conway New Hampshire, and her spring breaks on a cruise to someplace warm. Her and her husband built many homes together and over time renovated the Power Family farm house on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Bernard Power of Wenham, her three daughters, Julie Power D’Eon and Raymond D’Eon IV of Revere, Cheryl Power and her fiancé William Dufour of Wenham, and Bethany Papacostas and Michael Papacostas of Dallas Texas; her father Philip J.
