MY COUSIN
Corporal Raymond Tackett was killed in action in Korea on October 12, 1951. He was the son of Jesse and Maude (Litteral) Tackett. His father preceded him in death two years before him. He has five sisters and two brothers. He was inducted into the armed forces on October 20, 1950 and served with the 23rd Infantry Regiment. He had been overseas for about six months when he was killed instantly while leading in combat on Heart Break Ridge. For his heroic valor in battle he received one of the highest awards to be bestowed by our Government, The Purple Heart, for service over and above the call of duty. "Greater Love Hath No Man, Than This, That a Man Lay Down His Life For His Family And Friends"
