Lucy Brown Godbey, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Liberty Care Center. She was 86. Born March 29, 1929, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Marion and Myrtie McDonald Byrd. She was a waitress at The Village Restaurant for over 30 years. Lucy was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed flowers, red birds, and playing Bingo. Survivors include her sons, James (Sally) Brown of Bowling Green, Robert Brown of Liberty, and Roger (Lisa) Brown of London; daughters, Helen Woodrum of Liberty, Phyllis Hamm of Liberty, Donna (Gary) Taylor of Lawrenceburg, Darlene (Jerry) Lee of Liberty, Norma “Genie” (Craig) Atwood of Liberty, and Carol (Kim) Williams of Liberty; brother, Otha Byrd; sisters, Rose Lampton, Sara Deel, Ruth Regensberger, Betty Abney, Shirley Fritsch, Arlie Cundiff, and Mary Alice Stephens; 21 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William T. “Bill" Godbey, who passed away on May 20, 1990; brother, Sherman Byrd; and sisters, Anna Marie Flener and Ruby Overstreet. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 2, 2015, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Homer Hecht officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethelridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9PM Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.
