The signature of Roger Wolcott Jr was found on the initial page of a 1725 MDCCXXV English Law Book.

These are two large books - not in very good shape but very interesting history.

Roger Wolcott II was a Delegate of the Albany Congress in 1754. Connecticut

The Albany Congress (1754), also known as, "The Conference of Albany" was a meeting of representatives sent by the legislatures of seven of the thirteen British North American colonies (specifically, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island; northernmost Newfoundland and Nova Scotia were not in attendance). Representatives met daily at the Stadt Huys in Albany, New York from June 18 to July 11, 1754 to discuss better relations with the Native American tribes and common defensive measures against the French threat from Canada in the opening stage of the French and Indian War, the North American front of the Seven Years' War between Great Britain and France. Delegates did not have the goal of creating an American nation; rather, they were colonists with the more limited mission of pursuing a treaty with the Mohawk and other major Iroquois tribes.

This was the first time colonists had met together and it provided a model that came into use in setting up the Stamp Act Congress in 1765 as well as the First Continental Congress in 1774, which were preludes to the American Revolution.

Twenty-one representatives of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire attended the Congress. James DeLancey, Governor of New York, as host governor was the Chairman. Peter Wraxall served as Secretary to the Congress.

Delegates included:

◾Connecticut: William Pitkin, Roger Wolcott, Jr., Elisha Williams •(Also present from Connecticut was John Lydius, who did not represent the colony. Lydius was a land agent and speculator hired by the Susquehannah Company to purchase land in the Wyoming Valley from the Iroquois. (Lydius' role is comparable to a modern lobbyist.)

◾Maryland: Abraham Barnes, Benjamin Tasker, Jr.

◾Massachusetts: Thomas Hutchinson, Oliver Partridge

◾New Hampshire: Meshech Weare, Theodore Atkinson

◾New York: James DeLancey, William Johnson Philip Livingston, William Smith

◾Pennsylvania: Secretary Benjamin Chew, John Penn, Richard Peters,Isaac Norris, and Benjamin Franklin. His son William Franklin and Conrad Weiser attended as extra staff.

◾Rhode Island: Stephen Hopkins

I own these two old English Law Books - MDCCXXV - 1725.

I believe they were actually owned by Roger Newberry first, and at his death Roger Wolcott's sister - who was married to Roger Newberry gave them to her brother - Roger Wolcott Jr.
