Jane Alice Lamar born on March 24, 1948 in Bay Minette, AL. As a child, she became a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Douglasville High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1966. Jane then went on to attend Faulkner State Community College. Upon completing her education , she became employed with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office in Bay Minette. She held various positions there including Executive Secretary and Office Manager. After 27 faithful years of service, Jane went on to retire from the Sheriff’s Office.
Jane enjoyed road trips, “cowboy” movies, and spending time with her great-granddaughters. She embraced her role as “MoMo” and treasured spending time with her girls. Jane was also known for hosting family gatherings at her home. For many years, Jane helped to keep Pollman’s Bakery in business by buying cakes for various holidays and her daughter’s birthday celebrations. It was during these celebrations that Jane would also serve as the disciplinarian to all the children, just ask any of her younger cousins about their numerous warnings of not playing in her living room. Jane loved to love on people, but not in the traditional sense. If you were expecting a hug and for her to tell you how much you meant to her then she wasn't the one. Instead, she would spend time with you and call you nicknames that were unique to her. Jane was that dependable person that all of us need in our lives. She may complain about your request, but you always knew that she had your back.
After a courageous fight, Jane passed away on January 10, 2020. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Bogan; stepfather, Nelson Bogan; grandparents, Jessie and Jimmie Lou Moorer; brother, Nelson Bogan Jr.; and sister, Barbara Bogan.
Jane and Leola friendship began while they were working at the Sheriff’s Department. These two went on to become best friends. Jane would oftentimes accompany Leola on her many trips across the country to visit her children; whom all looked to Jane as a mother and treated her just like family. Jane will forever be remembered for her caring heart, blatant honesty, fierce tenacity; but most importantly, her unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort that she is watching over us.
