VINA ESSIG, 66, TAKEN BY DEATH EARLY SUNDAY
FUNERAL WILL BE HELD TUESDAY MORNING AT ST. SIMON's
Mrs. Vina Essig, 66, wife of Edward G. Essig of 625 S. W. First street, died Sunday morning at 5:55 o'clock at the Daviess county hospital.
Death of Mrs. Essig was attributed to complications arising following a fall in her home on May 31st, in which she suffered fracture of her right arm and dislocation of the right shoulder. She had been in the hospital since that time.
Born in Barr township on April 24, 1877, she was a daughter of John W. Bowling and Cordelia (Patterson) Bowling, both natives of Daviess county. The aged father survives, and lives in Washington.
On June 24, 1901, she married Mr. Essig, who survives and four children born to the union, as follows: Edward G. Essig of Washington, Mrs. Herman Richard of St. Louis, Mrs. Helen Swartz of Washington, and Gibbon Essig of Washington. Mrs. Jesse Smiley, of Indianapolis, a niece of Mrs. Essig, was reared in the Essig home from childhood.
Brothers and sisters surviving are Mrs. Perry Brewer of Washington, Mrs. Al Hannan of Kansas City, Kan., George Bowling of Indianapolis, Harry Bowling of Loogootee, and Julian L. Bowling of Washington. Six brothers and sisters are deceased. There also are eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Essig was a lifelong resident of Daviess county, was educated in Barr township, and spent quite a number of years in Washington. She was a member of St. Simon's church and of the Daughters of Isabella. She was well and favorably know throughout the community.
Funeral services are to be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Simon church, with interment following in St. John's cemetery.
Friends may pay respects at the Keller Mortuary.
The Daughters of Isabella will go in a body this evening at 7 o'clock to pay their respects to their deceased sister. They also will attend the funeral in a body Tuesday morning.
The Ladies Altar Society will meet at the mortuary to recite the rosary at 7:15 p.m. this evening.
