Ann Catherine Poland, 61, of Lincoln, died February 23, 2021 after a ten-year battle with cancer. She was born February 28, 1959 in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Joseph and Blanche Trompeter.

She is survived by her mother Blanche; husband Don; daughters Tricia (Doug) Benes and Caitlin Poland; grandchildren Andre Poland, Jaeda Poland, Kingston Benes, Cambria Benes, Timothy Davis III, Aizea Davis; brothers Jerome Conradt, Ed Conradt, Tom Trompeter; sister-in-law Pat (Mitch) Michielutti; father-in-law Don Poland; brother-in-law Jeff Poland; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father Joe Trompeter; brothers Robert Conradt and Marty Conradt; mother-in-law Belva Poland; sister-in-law Penni Poland; and aunt Janet Swatek.

Ann spent her youth in Steinauer, Nebraska. She graduated from Table Rock High School in 1977. She later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and attended Lincoln School of Commerce. She married Don Poland on June 16, 1979. Ann worked for the State of Nebraska Board of Educational Lands and Funds for 42 years.

Ann was very grateful for the care received from the staff at Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center. The friendships she created there helped uplift her spirits during her difficult cancer journey. Even after major surgeries, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and countless other medical procedures, she remained strong and fought hard. She was always positive, optimistic, and a light to others.

Ann’s greatest joy was her six grandchildren. She created special bonds with each of them. She never missed a school, church, or sports event for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed trips to Walt Disney World and created many lasting memories with her family there. She loved being outdoors, especially on the farm. She had a strong Catholic faith and a passion for education. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter’s Catholic School.

Ann was loved and adored by all who knew her. She was the light of her family’s lives. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and joy will live on through her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

Burial: St Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Steinauer.
