ROXIE LOUISE TURLEY
October 21, 1940 ~ February 21, 2021 (age 80)

Roxie Louise was born Oct 21, 1940 in Saratoga, AR. The daughter of the late Willie Ed Smith and Helen (McJunkins) Smith.

She attended Saratoga Schools and graduated in 1958. Roxie Louise and Wylie Turley were united in marriage on November 4th, 1961. She continued her education attending Texarkana Community College and Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she received a Bachelor of Education degree, and later a Master’s degree in School Counseling.

Roxie Louise loved horses and shared countless memories of her younger days riding with cousins and friends. She shared her passion of horseback riding with her daughters at an early age. Horseback riding was a common theme of daily life - afternoon and weekend rides, trail rides and rodeos where she also participated in barrel racing events.

Roxie Louise and Wylie built their home and resided in the Broken Bow area for more than 45 years. She loved her work as a High School Counselor in the Broken Bow School system. She loved encouraging students to attain the education and skills they needed to be successful in life.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed teaching Sunday School, singing, attending Bible Studies and participating in Church activities. Through her work and Church membership she gained many lifelong friends.

Roxie Louise passed away on Sunday, Feb 21, 2021 in Fayetteville, AR, surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Willie Ed and Helen Smith; husband, Wylie Turley; and his siblings, Herbert, Elton, Charles, & Loy Turley.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sandi Cummins and Kim Irvin and husband, Richard; sister, Dianne Smith; sister-in-law, Jennie Lou McCullough and husband, Troy;

Grandchildren, Chad Minor and wife, Monica, Brittany Riddick and husband, Darren, Leslee Cummins, Brent Irvin, and Sherra Irvin; great- grandchildren, Chloe, Easton, Hendrix, Wylie, & Beaux; aunt and uncle, Sovilla and J. K. Porter; as well as, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, other family, and friends.

Visitation for Roxie will be from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Friday, February 26, 2021, at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 PM, with Wayne Warren officiating.

Inurnment will be at the Hochatown Cemetery following the memorial service.
