William fought in the battle of Brice Cross Roads near Gunn Town Mississippi he was with the 4th Iowa Calvary. He lost his life and it's not known exactly where he is buried. Many of the dead were buried in mass graves on the battlefield ,some were removed in later years and were buried at the National Cemetery in Memphis.

There is another William Moore that died in a battle inGun Town Georgia that is buried in Marietta National Cemetery..The records show he joined the Union Army in Ohio....This is not the same William Moore this bloodline lived in Iowa for a number of years prior to the War. His wife Celia passed away in 1859 leaving him small children to care for ...
