On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, Louise Anna (Moor) Orin passed away at the age of 97 at Rosalia Gardens in Antigo. She was born in Merrill, Wisconsin and graduated from Merrill High School in 1941 and Lincoln Normal School in 1943.

She married John Orin in 1944 and, shortly after, began teaching grades 1-8 at a local one-room school. Her husband's career took them to the Milwaukee area where she worked for Cutler-Hammer, riveting plane parts and inscribing bomb bay door levers in support of World War II efforts. Louise and John raised their five children in a house they built in Brookfield. After obtaining her teaching degree at UW-Whitewater, she taught fourth grade at New Berlin Elementary for many years.

In 1980, retirement took John and Louise to Cherokee Village, a retirement community in Arkansas. When she wasn't golfing, gardening, bird watching or perfecting her photography skills, Louise served as a member of the Tri-County Literacy Council, the North Arkansas Woodcarvers, and the Nature Conservancy. She was also a founding member of the Preschool Board at Peace Lutheran Church.

Louise was predeceased by her husband, John. She is survived by a son, Bob Orin of Wauwatosa, WI; four daughters, Barb (Carl) McIlquham of Antigo, WI; Suzanne (Kurt) Devon of Sedona, AZ; Marjorie Orin (Dennis Dillman) of Menomonee Falls, WI; and Betsy (Ric) Geil of Easley, SC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
