Philip Kolb, Sr., 97, of Madison, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, in St. Catherine's Village. Services were held Thursday, June 7, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland and burial followed in Lakewood Memorial Park. Father Benjamin Martinez of St. Richard Catholic Church officiated.
Mr. Kolb was a native of Jackson and was educated in the Jackson Public Schools and Millsaps College. Owner of Kolb's Cleaners for 48 years, he served as president of the Downtown Exchange Club, Mississippi Laundry and Dry Cleaners Association, and the Mississippi Children's Home Society. He was on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Dry Cleaners, Hinds County Red Cross and Colonial Country Club. Mr. Kolb was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a former member of St. Richard Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Colleen H. Watrous; one grandson; sister, Mary Margaret Kolb Jenkins of Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
