Mrs. Hilton, a native of Smith County, was a member of the Capitol Street United Methodist Church. During the Depression, she established the Mississippi Women's Sewing Project within the Federal Works Project Administration. During World War II, she was employed by the U.S. Air Force and later by the Veterans Administration.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ina Twenter of Lansing, Mich.; sons, Dr. Emmett Hilton of Cleveland, Ohio, and Dr. Andrew Hilton of New York City; brother, Reuben Walters of Rayville, La.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandsons and nieces and nephews.
