On Sunday March, 13 2021 Dennis McNutt was called home to the creator.

With the help of MD Anderson and with the support of his family, Dennis courageously fought a strong fight against the cancer that ultimately took him.

He leaves behind his wife, Robin Stone McNutt, the love of his life who has been with him through it all, the good times and the bad. Their love and commitment to one another is steady and strong and has endured for 35 years of marriage. There is no doubt that their love and commitment will continue on.

Dennis also leaves behind four children and two grandchildren. Susan McNutt-Shofkom, Michael McNutt, Rachel McNutt, and Melissa McNutt had the blessing of being born to a loving father who always let them know just how much they meant to him. His granddaughters, Isabel Shofkom and Caroline McNutt, brought much joy to him through the years.

Born to AV McNutt of Moulton, AL and Ardis Roberts of Mazomanie, WI, Dennis and his brother Vince spent their childhood in Waco, TX.

As a boy he helped raise cattle, bale hay, fix fence, and break horses on the family ranch in Mt. Calm, TX. After graduating high school from Waco High, he discovered his interest in nuclear medicine and pursued his degree. He started his career working as chief nuclear medicine tech in Ft. Smith, AR and later moved on to a career with GE Medical. Dennis had the spirit of an entrepreneur, so he left GE to start NuMed Inc, which outfitted and staffed nuclear medicine departments for small hospitals in the state of Texas.

One of the highlights of Dennis’ life as a young man was taking his children, Susan and Michael, to the ranch on the weekends to visit his parents. There they would quail hunt with Red Dog and go fishing.

While living in Denton, TX and traveling for work, he met and fell in love with Robin Stone. The two were married July 27, 1985 and spent the next 35 years entirely devoted to one another and making happy memories.

In 1989 Dennis, Robin, Susan, and Michael moved to Miami, FL where they started a new chapter of life. In Miami, Dennis became a successful insurance agent and broker. Dennis nurtured his passion for golf where he developed wonderful relationships with family, friends and clients. He also enjoyed traveling to The Florida Keys to night fish with the family. Miami was also where his twins, Rachel and Melissa were born. After 9 years in Florida, Texas was calling him back home. Dennis and family moved to Georgetown, Texas in the summer of 1998.

In Georgetown, Dennis reconnected with his roots. He was able to enjoy years of fly fishing the San Gabriel, hunting with his dogs Roxie and Ida Mae, and playing golf with is friends and family at Georgetown Country Club. Some of his greatest joys were watching his daughters swim and play golf for Georgetown High. Traveling and making memories with Robin was another source of great joy for him. Through his love for Robin he set the example for a romantic, loving relationship.

Dennis was an unwavering believer in devotion to family. He was committed to helping his children succeed in their endeavors. His family always knew that they could rely on him for honest advice that always came from a place of love and best interest. He shared in the joys of his family’s successes and was there to help in any way he could when one of his own was going through hard times.

He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind, but his love will be forever carried in our hearts and demonstrated in our deeds throughout the rest of our lives. Thank you for a lifetime of love and devotion. We are all better people for having had you in our lives.
