Born in Kearny, NJ, she is the daughter of the late Herman and Rebecca Hamelton Schaepe.
Prior to retiring, she and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm for many years.
She was a member of Saint Patrick Church in Nicholson and taught Sunday school at the parish. She also was a graduate of Keystone College, a 4H leader, and a secretary for Eastern Milk Producers.
Eleanor is survived by two daughters, Mary Smarkusky and Teresa Flasher; two sons, Donald and Timothy Belcher; two sisters, Margaret Johnson and Paula Osborne; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass celebrated by Rev. Arbogaste Satoun was held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 in Saint Patrick Church, 205 Main Street, Nicholson. Family and friends were asked to go directly to the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Patrick Church or the Diabetes Association.
