Artist. María Cecilia Armida Baz was a Mexican painter and cook responsible for rescuing pre-Hispanic gastronomy, by introducing it to the intellectual class of Mexico. Due to her temperament, she was fired from multiple girls' schools, later she was admitted to a nun's school that did not manage to soften her character and back in Mexico she got married in a bar causing her furious father to get her a job at the brasilian embassy after its annulmentl, where she spent three years working and having fun, until she finds a husband, the Dutch Leender van Rhijn. After the birth of her daughter and her divorce, she started making collages that caught the attention of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, with whom she maintained a deep friendship. Diego sponsored an exhibition of her and him. It is the magnificent painting entitled "A Machilxóchitl, homenaje de amor", in 1952, in which she is portrayed. In the art world, she learned that her true calling was the business of high Mexican food. After buying a house on Taxqueña avenue, she began to organize feasts and celebrations for intellectuals, politicians, officials, businessmen, artists and the high society of those days. Her mojarras a la camagüeyana, the Moctezuma stew, the huauzontle pudding, the frog legs in Totomoxtle, the topiltzin duck pipián, the texmole, the tortolitas, the inditas quail, the ayocotes, the chacualole, the totlcoxcatl mushrooms are some of her most famous recipes.
