Archie Morgan, 65, of Pierre Part died of an apparent heart attack while boating in Stephensville Tuesday morning.
His body was brought into Doiron's Landing in Lower St. Martin Parish around 7 p.m. Tuesday. St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Deputy Pete Dallas said Morgan and his common-law wife, Avis Bonner, were fishing Tuesday when he died of an apparent heart attack around 9 a.m.
Bonner initially was unable to get a cell phone signal from the boat's remote location in Bayou Grosbec and she could not contact officials until around 3:30 p.m.
A mixture of eight volunteer and sheriff's department search boats as well as a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter set out to find the missing pair. The woman and the body were brought to Doiron's Landing in Stephensville at about 7 p.m., the deputy said.
