Alfred was the 4th and last child (2nd son) born of Squire Bartholomew (1768-1846) and his wife Abigail Jones (1766-1850). He married, 1822, Hannah Osgood (1801-1860) by whom he had 7 children (all sons): Sylvester (1822-1894), Arvin (1825-1825), Alfred (1827-1914), Judson (Jutson/Justin) (1830-1914), Alvah (Alva) (1832-1914), Isaac (1835-1918), and Daniel (1840-1924).
