Alicia Bates, 90 of Dyer passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021.
Alicia is survived by her loving children: Robert (Taffy), Pete (Gina), San Juanita, Ruben (Eileen), Ezequiel (Nicole), Veronica (Richard), Daniel (Elizabeth), Donald E., Jr. (Carla) and Mary Alice; many adoring grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Alicia is also survived by her siblings Consuelo, Hortencia, Minerva, Gloria and Raul.
Preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Maria, son Alonzo, grand daughter Lynda Marie and son-in-law Jose, along with siblings Roberto, Pedro, Carmela, Blanca and Carlos.
Alicia worked for the City of Hammond - Police Department as a civilian in the records division as a Clerk-Typist between 1979 to 2002, where she was known as a nice, sweet and wonderful lady who always had a smile for everyone. She was a long life catholic and a member of St John the Evangelist Parish and also attended Holy Name Catholic Church in Cedar Lake.
Alicia often said that the greatest gift God ever gave her was her children. She felt that her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were added gifts, who she always enjoyed being around. Alicia enjoyed vacationing and shopping with her children and grandchildren, along with going out to restaurants and catching a movie now and then.
Alicia leaves us with wonderful memories which we will cherish forever and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., with a mass service to follow at noon at Memory Lane Funeral Home 6305 W. Lincoln Hwy Crown Point, IN 46307.
Burial at Memory Lane Memorial Cemetery.
