Dorothy G. Grossnickle, 84, of Lehigh, died peacefully Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Grandview Care Center in Dayton surrounded by her loving family.

A service honoring Dorothy's life will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Laird officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Cemetery at Lehigh. Visitation is 11:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. A celebration of Dorothy's life will also be held this summer with details to be announced.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Cindy (Dennis) Corson, Dayton; Wayne (Shelia Miller) Grossnickle, Athens, Ala., Rhonda (Andrew) Vaughn, Fort Dodge; Erik (Debra) Grossnickle, Richmond Hills, Ga., Shawn (Tamara) Grossnickle, Fort Dodge; Geri (Tim) Zauche, Platteville, Wis.; 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; along with a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Butch and Sandra Grossnickle; and sister-in-law Marilyn Borer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jerold, two grandchildren and five brothers and sisters.

Dorothy Grace Borer, the daughter of William and Muriel (Anderson) Borer, was born November 7, 1936, at Burnside, Iowa and attended Fort Dodge schools. On May 23, 1959, Dorothy was united in marriage to Jerold Grossnickle at Grant City, Missouri. Dorothy was employed for many years at Fort Dodge Laboratories and during that time received her college degree.

Dorothy was a member of Lions and she was an officer in the Family Support Group during the time of Desert Storm. She also worked to re-establish the blue and gold star flags displayed in the windows of families who had family members serving in the armed forces. Dorothy enjoyed making crafts and giving the crafts she made away to family and friends.
