Reading Times- December 18, 1917-Mrs. Mary E. Hoh
Mrs. Mary E. (Schick) aged 50 years, wife of Rev. Philip J. Hoh, died at
her residence, 4180 Pennsgrove avenue, West Philadelphia, on Sunday
evening at 6. Death was due to several strokes of apoplexy, the first of
which occurred a month ago when her son, Paul, was brought home from a
hospital where he had undergone several operations. It is expected that
he will recover.
Her husband is the pastor of the St. Peter's German Lutheran church, of
West Philadelphia. He was at one time the assistant pastor of St. John's
German Lutheran church, of this city. Mrs. Hoh was born in this city, the
daughter of the late William (sic-should be Christian) and Mary Schick.
Her father was of the firm of Schick & Fett Bottling Company, this city.
She lived here the greater part of her life, only recently going to West Philadelphia.
Besides her husband, she is survived by these children: Paul, Ernest and
Frieda, all of Philadelphia. These brothers and sisters also remain,
Henry W., of this city; William J., Pottsville; Maggie, wife of Franklin
K. Dick; Elizabeth, wife of John Kauffman; and Emma, wife of John Dersch,
all of this city.
