Earnest Bastian, Jr, 86, of Georgetown, IN passed away peacefully on April 5th at his home in the presence of his family. He was born in Port Lavaca, TX on October, 20th, 1934 to the late Ernest and Dorothy (Sutherland) Bastian.

He was raised on a farm, milked cows before school, loved horses, played high school football, and became a young landscaping entrepreneur in his high school days.

He joined the US Army in 1954, serving the army for 2 years as an Artillery Communications Specialist in Korea. Afterwards, he attended Sam Houston State University and graduated in 1959.

He met his wife, Nancy (Cunningham) in college and was married for 62 years. They had only one argument the entire time … and it lasted for 62 years. . Dad's favorite joke. As a devoted husband and father, he loved his family dearly, teaching them to love our Lord, be good to others, and honesty before all things.

Earnest became a successful businessman early in his career as a life insurance broker. He was a passionate mentor, teacher, and friend to all he encountered. An entrepreneur at heart, he started or lead many organizations. He was an original founding member of the Klein United Methodist Church in Spring, TX, served as president of the Houston Association of Life Underwriters, and founded many clubs and organizations in his career as a financial planner, life insurance broker, and business partner.

Earnest loved gardening. Every year he blessed the family with an abundance of freshly grown vegetables straight from his private garden.

The viewing will take place on April 13th at 12 Noon at SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 North Main, Pearland TX 77581 with graveside to follow. For those interested in honoring Earnest, the family requests that donations be directed to Edwardsville United Methodist church in his memory
