Danish queen. She was originally Princess of Sweden of the Sweartgarian Dynasty, a daughter of King Sweartgar I and probably of Queen Wolfhilda. Historians are not in full agreement that her name actually was Helen and her birth year is estimated. Sweartgar was remarried after Wolfhilda's death, and when he died his widowed Queen Richeza, who earlier had been married to a Danish king, had a condolence visit to Sweden by her son King Canute V of Denmark. He brought a step-sister back to Denmark with him as his queen consort. He was assassinated only a year later, however, and evidence suggests that she went back to Sweden and by 1158 had joined her sister Ingigarth (Ingegärd) at Vreta Abbey.
