Grady was a retired American Airlines purchasing agent who lived in Las Vegas. He was born near Hereford, Texas, to Blan and Alla Blanche Poff. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1949 and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. When his job transferred him from Texas to San Francisco, he settled in Sunnyvale, California, where he married fellow American Airlines employee Arletta Spencer in 1966. They retired in 1989 and moved to Las Vegas. His wife passed away on July 1, 2007. Grady was also preceded in death by his parents and his 8 siblings.
