Mrs. Samantha R. Edison, age 71, wife of William Edison, 1408 South Michigan Street, and a resident of this city for 58 years, died Thursday night at 7 o'clock following an illness of over a year. She was born in Carroll County, Ohio, Apr. 6, 1851, and died on her 71st birthday. Surviving are her husband, whom she married Sept. 12, 1872; two daughters, Mrs. Daisy Bare, of North LIberty, and Mrs. Iva Naftzinger, of Elkhart, Ind.; two sons, M.R. Edison of Green township, and Leo O. Edison, of this city; four brothers and sisters, Alvin Rea and Charles Rea, of this city; Mrs. F.B. Bressler, of Chicago and Mrs. S.C. Lentz, of Los Angeles, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and one grandchild. Mrs. Edison had been a life long member of the Baptist church and was an active worker in the W.C.T.U., in Auten W.R. C., No. 14, and the Florence Critenton circle. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the residence, Re. U.S. Davis, D.D., of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Rea Cemetery, LIberty.
