Annie was born in Barrows-In-Furness, Lancashire, England on November 12, 1878. Her mother was Margaret Wilson, daughter of William Wilson and Margaret (Maggie) Mawson Wilson. Annie is the biological child of Doctor William Edwards. Her parents were never married. She went by the name Annie Edwards-Wilson. Her mother came to America when Annie was about four years old. She was left in the care of her Grandfather Wilson and Aunt Hannah and Uncle William White. Annie came to America with her Aunt Hannah and Uncle William when she was about six years old. They lived in Chicago where they owned a store and later on Annie went to Michigan to see her mother by railroad. At the time her mother lived between Greenville and Cedar Springs. Annie met Arthur at the railroad where he worked at the time when she was at the railroad when she came to see her Mother. They married on April 22, 1896 in Cedar Springs, Kent County, Michigan and later moved to Barryton in a wooden farmhouse that burnt and a stone house was built in its place. They had four children; Albert Leroy Squires, Lewis Arthur Squires, Bertha Belle Squires (Thorson), William Robert Squires and Vernon Dean Squires. Annie passed away June 11, 1941.
