In 1956, he was Honorably discharged from the United States Army before moving to Rochester, New York.
He worked for the Eastman School of Music for a number of years and retired in 1991 from Eastman Kodak after working for them 26 years. He was a family man and an avid fishing angler, whose favorite pastime was relaxing on the lake trying to land the big one.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mozella Ellis; stepfather, Roosevelt Ellis and brother, Alphonso Ellis.
Alonzo is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Euralene Adams, two sons; Keith A. Adams and Kevin L. Adams; granddaughter, Marillena Adams; sister, Sarah (Larry) Conaway; a host of other family and friends.
