1899 - sister Lottie, the mother of Carrington Staples, dies at age 21
1919 - his mother Sallie and his daughter Maud (age 3 ) die of influenza/pneumonia.
1924 - daughter Hester (sp?) dies at age 1 week old.

1938- Attempts suicide again by filling the home with gas from the stove. A traveling insurance man comes to the door, notices the smell, and rescues him. *source: News Journal(Delaware)
1940 - commits suicide by drinking a bottle of Creolin cleaner; dies at Chester Hospital.
Survived by his wife Irene. Sons: William age 14, Calvin age 12, Samuel age 8, and Lewis age? Daughters: Beulah age 9, Doris age 6, and granddaughter Margaret Walters age 10.

1945- son William dies at age 19. William had resided at the Pennhurst State School for the last 13 years of his life due to tuberculosis. His body was donated to the anatomical board.
