Martha Aube
1930 - 2016
Bathurst – Mrs. Martha Miller Akins Aubé, 86, wife of the late Howard Kyle, George Aubé and Emile Ouellette, of Union St. and formerly of Ocean Ridge St., Bathurst, passed Monday July 18, 2016 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst.
Born in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, USA and member of New Hope Methodist Church, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Grace (Reeves) Akins.
Martha loved Holy Family and gave all of her spare time to service to the church and the beloved priests that she adored. She was known as an elegant woman that had many talents. However, Martha grew up on the farm, and she was a farmer at heart, loved her garden and flowers and a hard day's work. For many years she managed jewelry stores in Michigan where she learned to sell, purchase and manage the sale of fine jewelry. She loved cooking and baking, every kind of cuisine known, and showed her abilities to organize dinner parties for 2 to 300 people, those that attended those parties will often speak of the memories they have of the food and fellowship. She was a planner and organizer leading the way, always with joy and laugher. She was called "Aunt Happy" by her niece and nephews, because she had a beautiful smile on her face all the time. As a Mother she was everything from PTA member, Eastern Star member, Bible School teacher, choir member, wedding planner and cake designer, she canned everything by the bushel, sewed, crocheted and needle pointed, avid reader of good books, loved music, could shoot partridge, fisher woman, that could clean them and fry them up to perfection. Martha was most happy when she was at the church, handling the "linens" which she felt was a gift of God, and precious to her heart. She was President of CWL, and a hospital volunteer for Palliative Care at Chaleur Regional Hospital many years, visiting shut ins and providing words of wisdom and tender comfort which was her greatest joy as long as she was able. Martha loved her family well, and loved God and wanted everyone to know how much they were loved by God, and if you stood still long enough she would tell you about Jesus and the gospel story.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at the residence where Emile and Martha lived where they greatly enjoyed there stay.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
