Ellen Evenson Bohlman passed away Aug. 23, 2007 at Gothenburg, Neb.

The funeral was held Monday, Aug. 27 at American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg with Pastor Matthew Groenke officiating. Music was brought by Ernie Blecha, Timothy Evenson and Karalee Evenson. Pallbearers were Drew Henning, Timothy Evenson, Chad Evenson, Scott Evenson and Clint Evenson. Inurnment was at Martell Methodist Cemetery in Wisconsin.

Ellen was born May 10, 1927 in River Calls, Wis., to Carl Caster and Jennie (Martin) Wiff. She attended local schools, graduated from high school in Ellsworth, Wis., in 1945. She graduated from nursing school at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital followed by earning a bachelors degree at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn. She taught nursing school in St. Paul, Minn., and Presbyterian Hospital in Denver.

In 1953 she married E. Harold Evenson. To this union, three sons were born.

Ellen enjoyed reading, gardening, art, music, travel, skiing and tennis. She loved skiing, particularly learning to ski as a child in Wisconsin. She skied nearly every year until the age of 79. She loved to watch sports and played competitive dual tennis during her 40s and 50s.

In 1987 she married Heino Bohlman and lived in Colorado Springs for nine years. She moved to Gothenburg in 1996 and was an active member of the American Lutheran Church. She served on multiple church committees, her favorite being the visitation committee. She played bridge and belonged to several book clubs, volunteered at the elementary school, senior center and the library.

Ellen is survived by her sons: Eric and Carolyn Evenson, Gothenburg, Neb., Tom and Cindee Evenson, Freeman, Curt and Julie Evenson, Springfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren: Annie (Drew) Henning, Karalee Evenson, Chelsey Evenson, Chad Evenson, Jackie Evenson, Timothy Evenson, Scott Evenson, Rita Evenson and Clint Evenson; sister Shirley (Russell) Schutt, Kerhoven, Minn.; brothers: Charles (Barbara) Wiff, Spring Valley, Wis., and Thomas (Betty) Wiff, Balsam Lake, Wis.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother and her sister Susan.
