BLAISDELL, Hinton Markus (Age 94)
-----Born April 27, 1914 in Franklin, ME as Markus Hinton Blaisdell and passed away February 9, 2009 in Spokane, WA.
Hinton was the second child of T. Lloyd and Bessie Blaisdell. In the 1920's the family moved west to the Seattle area. Hinton graduated from Lincoln H.S of Tacoma, WA. While attending the University of Washington, he met his future bride, Eugenie Johnson of Spokane, WA. They were married 8 April 1939 in the Port Orchard, WA Methodist Church by his father, The Rev. T.L. Blaisdell. During WW II Hinton worked in the Portland, OR shipyards as a pipe fitter. The family then returned to Port Orchard where he began BLAISDELL TOTEM POTTERY featuring N.W. Coast Indian Art Ceramics. He and his wife operated the business for 40 years. They shipped their final order to the Smithsonian Institution in 1990 and retired to Spokane.
Hinton was a very happy and upbeat person. He enjoyed walking around Corbin Park, talking with people, gardening, flowers, reading his dozen magazines and visiting with his family.
Hinton was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years, Eugenie, brothers Truman Blaisdell and Dwight Blaisdell, sisters Waranna Blum and Margaret Bryant.

He is survived by daughter and son in law Joanne and Howard Herrick, Deer Park, WA. Granddaughters, Linda Wolf, Kelso, WA, Cheryl (Mitch) Yoke, Kennewick, WA. Cindy (Don) Giles, Woodway, WA. Grandchildren Ryan (Leah), Rachel and Justin Yoke, Lance (Meghan) and Lucas Wolf, Lindsay and Davis Giles. Great great granddaughter, Jenah Wolf. Sister-in-law Shirley Blaisdell, dear friend, Hedwig Poole, numerous nieces and nephews.
