James Walker was the skipper of one of the largest trawlers in Scarborough, named the ST ( Steam Trawler ) Jack Johnson which struck a sea mine on 3 Sept 1920.
The 10 man crew were from Scarborough and all were lost.

In loving memory of James Walker skipper of the ST JACK JOHNSON who was drowned Sept 4 1920 aged 42 years. Also of Mary Ellen his wife who died Nov 29 1921 aged 41 years. WE CANOT LORD THY PURPOSE SEE BUT ALL IS WELL THAT'S DONE BY THEE. Also James William son of the above dear husband of Jennie who died April 19 1971 aged 69 years. AT REST
