Funeral Service Pioneer Matron is Held Sunday
Ellen Bridgman, 79, Passed Away at Home of Son Wednesday, March 26
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday, March 30 for Ellen Bridgman of Richland Bench, who passed away on March 26th at the home of her son, J W Bridgman.
Death was due to old age and general failing of health. Had she lived a few more months longer she would have been 80 years old.
Rev L E Jones delivered the funeral sermon and spoke words of solace and comfort to the bereaved children and grandchildren. Music consisted of two songs by the choir, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and a song by the men's quartet, "Beautiful Land." Mrs J H Melvin accompanied at the piano.
Pallbearer were N M Boe, Stanton Cooke, Ben Solberg, Glenn Fisher, Ed Dwyer and Walter Sauber.
The body was laid to rest in the local cemetery.
Ellen Miller was born on June 27 1850 at Wiota, Wisconsin, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Jacob Miller.
On Dec 1871, she was united in marriage to Wm Bridgman, who passed this life Nov 23 1900.
She lived with her husband band family at Charles City, Iowa, later moving to Mohall North Dakota and Medicine Lake, Montana. In 1915, she came to Montana and filed on a homestead on Richland Beach.
Throughout her life she was of the Methodist faith. She was a kind and loving mother and of exceptionally cheerful and sunny disposition.
She is survived by three sons, J W Bridgman, Walter M Bridgman of Richland Bench and Harry Bridgman of Medicine Lake, Montana; one daughter, Mrs C N Vance of Glentana; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Sincere sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved in their time of sorrow.
