HAMPTON - Aaron Murray Jr., 81, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 21, 2011.

Aaron was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Natchez, Miss., to the late Aaron and Gertrude Redmon-Murray.

A lifelong resident of Hampton, he served two years in the United States Army. He also retired 32 years civil service from Langley Air Force Base. He was last employed at Newport News Parks and Recreation for 16 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; several siblings; and one daughter.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gloria; two daughters, Gloria Fleming (Vernon), Connie Harris (Patrick); two sons, Curtis Murray (Karen), and Aaron Thomas; eight grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; four sisters; one brother, the McNair family; and a host of nieces; nephews; and very special friends who loved him dearly.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at Dunamis Christian Center. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 2 to 7p.m. Friday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
The family would like to especially thank Heartland Home Health.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to be made to the Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters.
