My friend's mother would open her house to young servicemen who were on leave, but far from home. They were welcome to stay there, have home cooked meals, and visit with other young people. Alfredo Davila was one of the young servicemen who stayed there. I remember him as being quiet, shy, and very polite. We were all shocked and very sad to hear he had died in Vietnam.
