Art. at Pittsburgh, 30 June 1865 at close of war. Died of chronic gastritis at the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Erie where he had lived for three years.
Records of the Soldiers and Sailors Home indicate that Michael was to be buried there in Erie. However, the "Record of Burial of Veteran" states, "Known to be buried in this cemetery, but grave not located."
Michael was never buried in Erie, despite the Soldier's Home records. His death registration in the Soldier's Home book and his obituary both indicate he was to be buried in Pittsburgh. Cemetery records for St. Mary's state he was buried in the Keally family plot: Section D, Lot 109, Grave 6.
