BLUFORD — Albert Barnard, 89, of Bluford, passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan. 7, 2017, at home. He was born Feb. 9, 1927, in West Frankfort, the son of Thomas Michael Barnard, Sr. and Goldie (Powell) Barnard. He married Wilda Jean (Summers) on June 27, 1953, and she survives. Mr. Barnard was in the Army-Air Force, serving during World War II in the Transport Command. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon American Legion and VFW Posts. He was an avid fisherman and a Master Gardener. Mr. Barnard is survived by his wife, Wilda Jean Barnard of Bluford; two sons, Keith Barnard and wife, Candy, of Victorville, California; Allen Barnard and wife, Kim, of Bluford; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Tony Arionda of Mesa, Arizona. Mr. Barnard was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lucille and Margie Loujean; brother, Thomas Jr.; and an aunt, Florene. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, in Johnston Funeral Home in Ina, with Pastor Micah Arcuri and Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday in Johnston Funeral Home in Ina.
