Our beloved Mother, Memaw, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2021.
Barbara, or "Bobbie," was born in Grenada, MS on December 21, 1941 as the oldest of three children.
She graduated from Leland High School and later came to Memphis, TN to work. This is where she met and married Gene Mauney of Ripley, MS. They moved to Collierville, TN in 1970 and raised 2 children.
Barbara worked at Union Planters Bank and then the Federal Reserve Bank in Memphis. After banking, she worked in magazine printing at Quebecor in Olive Branch, MS until she retired.
Gene and Barbara were married 50 years as of April 11, 2020.
Barbara attended Grace Chapel in Collierville. Those who knew Barbara will remember her for her for outspoken nature, her tenacity, dedication to work, and determination to get what she wanted.
Barbara loved to be with people, eating out, making a great meal from the garden, making jellies from the fruit trees, watching a good movie, and traveling to hear gospel singing.
Barbara was preceded in death by her Father – Wade Harvey Burns, Sr., Mother – Willie Odom Moore Burns and her husband, Gene Martis Mauney, Sr.
Survivors include two children: Pamela Mauney Laszacs-Burkey (Martin Burkey) of Huntsville, AL, Gene Martis Mauney, Jr. of Collierville, TN and two grandchildren: Stanley Laszacs and Thomas Burkey. Brothers and sisters include Wade Harvey Burns, Jr. of Leland, MS and Debbie Sue Burns Anderson (Tom Anderson) of Cortez,Colorado. In addition, there are many cousins, nieces and nephews who survive her.
We thank our Heavenly Father for giving us 79 years of memories with Barbara. While she has physically left us, she lives on within us
