JAMES' OBITUARY
On Sunday, June 27, 2021, James Westerwal, loving husband and father of 3 children passed away at the age of 60. James fought a very diligent six year battle before he succumbed to cancer. He was born in Michigan to Marilyn and Leo Chambers and graduated from Hixson High School in 1979. James was an electrician at McCallie School for 34 years and was very proud of his job. He married Cheryl in 1987 and they have raised two sons, Kevin and Michael, and one daughter Jamie.
James loved hunting, fishing and camping, woodworking and gardening, as well as being an awesome bowler. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He had a kind and gentle heart and would quickly lend a hand to a friend or neighbor in need.
James was preceded in death by his father; Leo.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl, his three children, Kevin Flavin, Michael Flavin and Jamie Westerwal Morgan; grandmother, Grace Lesher; mother, Marilyn Cowden; brothers, Randy Westerwal, Bobby Westerwal; sister's, Sherry Westerwal Rightmire, and Janine Chambers Bright. He also had several very beloved grandchildren that he will greatly miss -Tyson, Adler, Ramsey, Bentley, Breckin, Kyler, Presley and Dylan.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Chattanooga National Cemetery officiating will be Michael Flavin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home.
