Walter Davis, 74, passed away on May 28th, 2016 from chronic respiratory failure. Walt was a lifelong churchgoer. He had been a member of the Kent Methodist Church and he most recently attended the chapel at the Ohio Veteran's Home where he studied the Bible and prayed with fellow veterans. He took a fair amount of pride in his country and served in the United States Navy from 1960-1965 achieving the rank of E5. He was a jet mechanic on the U.S.S. Constellation in 1964. He was loved by his family.

Walt is survived by his compassionate wife, Lorraine; his son, Brett; his daughter, Stacy Emanuel and her husband Tony Emanuel and his grandchildren Payton and Rylan Emanuel of Stow. He will be fondly remembered for his conversations at the dinner table, his wisdom, his talent for fixing mostly anything that needed repair, and his willingness to help anyone if he could with his handyman skills. One of our Dad's best friends was our family dog, and he would share his feeling with his family with, "Always remember your friend". His parents were Robert and Naomi Davis of Kent. He has a surviving sister, Trudy Stanley and her husband Ron Stanley of Kent. His brother, Carl, passed away during their youth.

Walt received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Kent State University. He was president of the Men's Garden Club of Kent in the 70′s. Walt was also known for his booming baritone singing voice which he would show off in church choirs and local barbershop quartets. He will be missed and is resting in the love of Jesus Christ. The following family members contributed greatly to Walt's life: Lynn and John Feola (sister-in-law and husband), Lee and Jack Boyett (sister-in-law and husband), Jerry and Maria Ramsey (brother-in-law and wife), and his many nieces and nephew.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky where Walt had lived for the last 6 years for all their care.

There will be a grave side service at Standing Rock Cemetery on Friday, June 3rd at 11:00 am. A wake of remembrance will be held after interment. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Veterans Home, Attn: Treasurer's Office, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
