Mexican Actor, Lawyer, Politician, and Union Leader. Rodolfo Echeverría Álvarez, better known as Rodolfo Landa, served as leader of the National Association of Actors (ANDA) and the Centro Mexicano de Teatro, in addition to developing a theatrical career for which he obtained the recognition of critics and the public. He was the brother of Luis Echeverría Álvarez, president of Mexico from 1970 to 1976. As a politician, he was twice federal deputy and senator in the XLVI Legislature. His experience and knowledge of the industry appointed him director of Banco Nacional Cinematográfico in September 1970. He built the Cineteca Nacional, founded the Cinematographic Training Center, instituted the International Cervantino Festival, among others. In the theater, he performed in the plays "Anfitrión 38" (1938), "Minnie la cándida" (1938), "El gesticulador" (1947), "Peribáñez y el comendador de Ocaña" (1935), "Los caballeros," "Las Troyanas" (1936), "Niebla," "Cyrano de Bergerac," "El círculo de yeso" (1940), "El viejo celoso," "La guardia cuidadosa" (1947), "Saber morir" (1950), "El derecho de nacer" (1952), "El mercader de Venecia" (1955), "El tesoro de Pancho Villa" (1956) and "La pícara ladrona" (1958). Among his best-known films are "María" (1938), "Dicen que soy mujeriego" (1949), "Al caer la tarde" (1949), "Lluvia roja" (1950), "Azahares para tu boda" (1950), "Pecado" (1950), "Reportaje" (1953), "El rapto" (1954), "El joven Juárez" (1954), "Magdalena" (1955), "Ensayo de un crimen" (1955), "La tercera palabra" (1956), "Cabaret trágico" (1958), "Bolero inmortal" (1958), "El joven del carrito" (1959), "Calibre 44" (1960), "El globero" (1961), "Las recién casadas" (1962), "Los bárbaros del norte" (1962), "Jugándose la vida" (1963), "Diablos en el cielo" (1965), and "Viento negro" (1965).
